VISUAL + GRAPHIC DESIGN ASSISTANT

NIC+ZOE Corporate Offices – Natick, MA

In this entry level position the VISUAL + GRAPHIC DESIGN ASSISTANT will be working on a wide variety of projects and will have the opportunity to assist in a multitude of design and bring their fresh and thoughtful ideas to life. In integral member of the Creative Services Team the Assistant will generate many different ideas while managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Create visual updates for nicandzoe.com that will include weekly email blasts, homepage updates, banner + affiliate marketing

• Execute on-brand internal presentations used in meetings for all departments

• Proactively communicate project progress

• Retail signage requests and the opportunity to be on site for new collection installations

• Attend and contribute to necessary kick-off meetings and + brainstorming sessions

• Supporting the design and administrative team

RETAIL MERCHANDISER

Natick, MA

The Retail Merchandiser will play an integral role within the Merchandising, Retail and Planning Teams. The Retail Merchandiser will assist in the planning and development of strategic direction to enable NIC+ZOE to deliver sales and achieve profit targets, while establishing assortments for our retail locations. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Develop the most compelling, competitive assortment for each retail location to achieve sales plans and support seasonal strategies.

• Develop merchandise vision by season, creating floor plans and mannequin guides that support merchandise vision and strategy. Ensure floor sets are relevant for all promotional activity.

• Attend monthly floor sets at local retail location to assess success of plan and make adjustments as needed. Relay necessary adjustments to locations out of region.

• Assume responsibility for top line sales and bottom line margin.

• Shop the market and competition to maintain knowledge of product, trends and key items. Utilize this information to develop a competitive and differentiated product assortment. Share key findings with Merchandising and Design to influence product development.

• Monitor assortments of National Accounts to further define a differentiated product assortment in our own retail locations.

• Attend and participate in product line reviews with the responsibility of informing and influencing design direction based on Retail needs.

• Monitor in season selling and provide recaps to Merchandising team bi-weekly. Relay retail findings and learnings from other channels to store managers.

• Visit stores regularly to ensure product assortment is relevant, compelling and competitive in each market and store. Discuss business with store manager.

• Partner with Creative Services to create in store visual assets that support provided floor set and seasonal strategies

• Provide information for product knowledge guide.

• Analyze and react to in-season product performance focusing on sales, margin, and sell-thru rates. Develop action plans based on performance. Manage weekly reorders to all retail locations.

• Plan, execute, and manage markdowns and promotions as driven by the corporate channel and initiate retail only markdowns that achieve business goals and company objectives.

•Develop exit strategies specific to product group in order to maximize sales and minimize markdowns and inventory.

ASSISTANT PRODUCT MANAGER

The Product Management Assistant is an integral part of the Product Management and Design teams at NIC+ZOE, reporting to the Director of Product Management and Technical Design. In this role, you’ll administer an array of Product and Design tools and resources, and provide support for the product development for Knitwear, Wovens and Cut + Sew classifications. This position also provides support for an array of cross functional initiatives and requires interaction with key members of the organization.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee all fit samples and swatches and assist in preparing products for the fit process. Attend garment fittings as needed. Organize and maintain fit sample closet

• Accurately update and maintain sample and development records

• Track daily packages and distribute contents to internal teams

• Work with overseas partners to ensure on time delivery of sales samples

• Responsible for managing and tracking all photo samples. Create an internal calendar to coordinate critical due dates with external vendors + e-commerce team

• Responsible for communication and organization and filing of all trims and lab dips

• Act as a liaison between Customer Service, Sales and the Design Team: provide product information and specifications upon request ensuring accuracy of information

• Create and maintain Excel files to accurately track color comments and photo samples

• Communicate on all development issues daily with agents and suppliers

• Support Product Managers with yarn and fabric sourcing

Knitwear Designer

The Knitwear Designer will create and execute on the vision of the Chief Creative Officer, ensuring that the product is consistent with market trends while maintaining the brand identity and supports overall business strategy. Candidates will have a passion for the NIC+ZOE brand and customer with a strong eye for trend and color. The ideal candidate will have strong communication and organization skills with the ability to direct and develop junior designers.

The Designer will be an integral member of the design and development function. The Senior Designer will be working in a fast paced team oriented environment with the support of a design team to execute all design details.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:

• Responsible for the research, design and development of silhouettes in knits

• Responsible for yarn sourcing and swatch development

• Develop brand-appropriate knitwear in line with seasonal concepts and color palettes. Design with entire collection in mind.

• Partner with Design and Product Manager to review lab dips

• Sketch and present concepts based on design direction to COO

• Set up tech packs and communicate design details to technical design team

• Oversee prototype fittings. Correct technical details and sketches for samples.

LEADERSHIP

• Motivate, inspire, energize and lead a team of Design Assistants

• Inspire creative collaboration across the design team.

• Identify growth, development and learning opportunities in team members, provide coaching and genuine real time feedback

• 3 - 5 years of knitwear experience, high level of proficiency in knitwear

• Ability to manage the design and development process from concept through final proto/sample, including but not limited to flat sketch, initial spec, and production fit approval.

• History of contributing innovations within a collaborative environment

• Knowledge of yarn and knitwear construction and finishes

• Ability to design knit garments including construction, tech packs, trim details, etc

• Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
